The New Tat and Other Updates...

Number 11 from my list has now been completed.

For Thanksgiving I went to Waco, TX to see Jon and Steph. The week I spent there was filled with merriment, tofurky, lots of good wine, and my first tattoo - a quote from Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five on my left arm close to my wrist. Lindsey from Art Ambush in Waco did an amazing job on this tattoo. The font that I wanted had some thin lines and a lot of detail, and she made it look awesome.

*Break for Commercial: If you are ever in Waco in need of a tattoo, Lindsey at Art Ambush is the best!*

I have also been working on some of the other items on my list:
I got the pattern for the outfit that I am going to be making. Now I just need to find the fabric.
While I was in Waco, Steph gave me Spanish Rosetta Stone, so that I can start working on being able to read a book in Spanish.
Also, I have started planning for running a half-marathon.

I still have four and a half years for finish my list, and I am feeling optimistic about being able to complete everything. I wonder which item on the list will prove to be the most difficult?

Three Tattoo Ideas

Here are the three ideas I am leaning toward for my tattoo - which I should be getting Nov. 24th!!!

Don't worry, I will be using spell check :)

All on my forearm:

1) "So it goes" - if i get it in cursive-like writing, i want it to end with an elipsis. If i get it in a type-writer font, i want it to end with a period.

2) "always the answer who asks a more beautiful question" - wrapped around the side of my forearm - no punctuation, i mean it's e.e. cummings.

3) "out beyond ideas of right and wrong, there is a field. i'll meet you there." - i don't know exactly how this one should look, so i am open to suggestions.

Tell me which one is your favorite; why it is your favorite; and any ideas about placement.

Tattoo Ideas....

There is some significant work associated with completing some of the goals on my thirty-by-thirty list. Some goals require planning, training, and practicing. Other goals mostly require a ton of thinking. Getting a tattoo is one of those things on my list that is boggling my mind.

I know that I want to get a quote - possibly poetry - on the inside of my forearm. I just need to pick the words. I have a few ideas, but nothing that really excites me. So, right now I am looking for ideas - words of wisdom perhaps.

Trapiche Malbec Vina Adriana Venturin

Thanks to Jon and Steph (you guys are AWESOME) "Drink a bottle of wine that costs >$60" is now marked off the list. I am keeping the bottle as a momento - it is currently serving as a storage container for rice on a shelf in my kitchen.

Actually, this item could have been marked off the list about a month ago, but I have been a little lazy. Also, I am a terrible blogger.

Trapiche Malbec Vina Adriana Venturin 2006 came from a single vineyard the foothills of the Andes mountains in Mendoza, Argentina. The vineyard was planted in 1959 and has been passed down from grandfather to granddaughter. To learn more about this vineyard you can click here.

As to taste of the wine - Beautiful. Perhaps the best wine I have ever tasted. This Malbec had a wonderfully rich flavor and was exquisitely balanced. To read more reviews of this wine click here. Matt and I drank our expensive vino over dinner on our back porch while the sun set.

Only 28 more on the list, and I still have over 5 years.

Just Getting Started

I will update on the completion of the list. All progress toward fulfilling items on the list will be reported.

I consider this the start of a blog, so I will be marking the first item "start a blog" off my thirty-by-thirty list.

29 more to go.
